# Email template variables

> STEP 2-5

Variables are available in the template for the Checkout+ "Cashback coupon issued" email. Using variables lets you generate emails that reflect the details of each order.

The variables on this page are **only for the Checkout+ "Cashback coupon issued" email**. The variables available in Try Before You Buy, return, and cancellation templates are different.

## Variable list

| Property | Description | Example | Usable in |
|---|---|---|---|
| `recustomer_css` | CSS defined by Recustomer. Removing it is not recommended (the email layout will break) | | Body |
| `mail_title` | The email subject | [Coupon issued] A coupon has been added to your order at Test Store. | Body |
| `brand_name` | Displays the brand name from the customization screen | Test Brand Store | Subject, body |
| `brand_logo_url` | Displays the brand logo from the customization screen. Used for the logo image in the email header | https://test-store.com/logo.png | Subject, body |
| `footer_logo_url` | URL of the logo image displayed in the email footer | | Body |
| `store_name` | Display name of the store where the order was placed. This is a different value from the brand name (`brand_name`) | Test Store | Subject, body |
| `store_shopping_url` | The store's shopping URL for customers. Used as the link for the "Shop with your coupon" button | https://test-store.com | Subject, body |
| `recipient_name_display` | Displays the recipient name. If the customer name cannot be retrieved, a generic salutation is used | Taro Sato | Body |
| `order_number` | Order number | #1000 | Body |
| `ordered_at` | Order date | 2024/01/01 10:00 | Body |
| `coupon_code` | The issued coupon code. The code the customer enters at checkout | ABCD1234 | Subject, body |
| `discount_amount` | Coupon discount amount (formatted with thousands separators) | 1,000 | Subject, body |
| `discount_currency` | Currency symbol of the discount amount. Use together with the amount | ¥ | Subject, body |
| `expires_at_display` | Coupon expiration date. **For coupons with no expiration, the variable itself does not exist** (see [Variables that may have no value](#variables-that-may-have-no-value)) | 2024/04/01 | Subject, body |
| `minimum_subtotal_display` | Minimum purchase amount required to use the coupon. **For coupons with no minimum, the variable itself does not exist** (see [Variables that may have no value](#variables-that-may-have-no-value)) | ¥5,000 | Subject, body |

## Different variables are available in the subject and body

Only information that is fixed before the order occurs (brand, store, coupon) can be used in the subject.

> **注意: Variables available in the body only**
>
> `mail_title`, `recustomer_css`, `order_number`, `ordered_at`, `recipient_name_display`, and `footer_logo_url` can be used **in the body only**. If written in the subject, no value is displayed.

## Variables that may have no value

Depending on the conditions, `expires_at_display` and `minimum_subtotal_display` may **not exist at all**.

- `expires_at_display`: when the coupon has no expiration date
- `minimum_subtotal_display`: when the coupon has no minimum purchase amount

If written as is, the surrounding sentence remains with an empty value. Wrap them in a conditional as follows.

**Expiration (example that displays "No expiration" when there is none)**

```
※ Expires: {% if expires_at_display %}{{ expires_at_display }}{% else %}No expiration{% endif %}
```

**Minimum purchase amount (example that hides the whole line when there is no minimum)**

```
{% if minimum_subtotal_display %}
※ Valid on purchases of {{ minimum_subtotal_display }} or more
{% endif %}
```

## Example

An example of the section that displays the coupon information.

```html
<p>
  Dear {{ recipient_name_display }},
  Thank you for shopping at {{ store_name }}.
  A coupon has been issued as a benefit of your order {{ order_number }}.
</p>
<p>Credit earned: {{ discount_currency }} {{ discount_amount }}</p>
<p>Coupon code: {{ coupon_code }}</p>
<a href="{{ store_shopping_url }}">Shop with your coupon</a>
```

> **ヒント: How to write variables**
>
> Always wrap variables in `{{ }}`. If you forget the braces, the variable name is displayed as plain text.
